Elizabeth McMahon

Elizabeth McMahon is a Human Resources Executive with more than 20 years of experience in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. Before joining WEHI she held a senior HR role at the University of Melbourne, which came after nine years in HR leadership positions at a top Australian law firm.

Since 2017, Elizabeth led the People and Culture team at WEHI, helping to shape a culture of discovery and collaboration where staff and students thrive. As a medical research institute, it is incredibly important that WEHI attracts and maintains not only Australia’s but the world’s brightest minds.

WEHI prides itself on its culture of diversity and inclusion and this is exemplified by commitment in areas such as reconciliation, gender equity, and the LBGTQIA+ community. In addition, WEHI encourages associations for student and research assistant cohorts, as a mechanism for networking and peer support.
