Founded in 2019, Alethea is a tech company that detects and mitigates instances of disinformation and social media manipulation to help clients navigate the new digital reality. We protect clients from the threat of disinformation that targets brands, reputations, employee safety, or financial bottom lines through our industry-leading investigation and remediation services

Position Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced product leader to join our growing team. Product is an integral part of Alethea’s success, and the product leader will be responsible for partnering with executive leadership to execute our product strategy. 

You will be responsible for building and leading our product team to serve the dynamic needs of our growing organization. Reporting to the CEO, and working closely with key stakeholders across Alethea, you will work to leverage the power of the current platform and bring Alethea’s vision to life. 

The right candidate must be a strong leader, with the ability to communicate clearly and use first principles to solve complex problems. You must be deeply technical, having extensive experience developing and deploying products.  You must be an empathetic listener and have the ability to connect internally across the organization, as well as with customers. The product team will grow quickly and the leader must be passionate about scaling a small team within a vibrant internal culture. 

Responsibilities:

Own and execute on a comprehensive product strategy that addresses customer needs ~

  • Product Strategy:  Develop and implement a comprehensive product strategy aligned with the company’s defined business objectives and vision.
  • Customer Obsession: Learn from customers what they need to address online risks and actively seek ways to enhance their workflow and toolset. Draw insights from multiple industries and customer profiles.
  • Product Leadership: Lead the product team by managing, mentoring, hiring, and embodying the team’s values. Demonstrate business-minded leadership to manage costs and financial risks associated with product decisions.
  • Team Building: Develop a world-class team and a product organization that is accountable, engaged, scalable, and aligned with business goals. Attract and foster top product talent, and manage the complexities of scaling beyond previous limits.
  • Success Measurement: Define methods and metrics for measuring successes and failures.
  • Cultural Advocacy: Be an example of and advocate for the company’s culture, mission, and values.
  • Collaboration and Growth Mindset: Collaborate with peers and maintain a growth mindset. Seek ways to understand how customers benefit from Alethea’s solutions, work across teams to build the right solutions, and make informed, strategic decisions.

Skills & Experience:

  • Education: BS/MS in a technical degree (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math) is often preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of work experience in Product Management, including scaling and growing new, successful SaaS applications.
  • Growth: Proven experience in a high-growth, venture backed startup or scale-up environment.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills for interactions with customers, investors and stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strategic Ability: Strategic thinking and the ability to translate product strategy into actionable insights. 
  • Scale: You have seen scale from small to very large user base using Product-Led Growth.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment.
  • Team Orientation: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • EQ: High EQ with ability to anticipate needs and proactively work toward solutions.
  • Integrity: Unquestionable integrity and proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Growth Mindset: Flexible attitude with a growth mindset and the ability to rapidly action feedback. Comfortable with a fast-paced start-up environment that involves regular iteration. 
  • Team Work: A strong work ethic with a proactive and collaborative mindset. 
  • Curiosity and Drive: Independent thinker with an insatiable curiosity and unstoppable drive to succeed.

Compensation and Benefits: 

  • Salary and stock options are negotiated based on experience. 
  • Healthcare at the gold-tier level, dental, and vision is fully funded by the employer. 50% of dependent coverage is provided by the employer.
  • Flexible vacation, sick leave, including office closure between Christmas and New Year’s, and extended holidays at Thanksgiving and the 4th of July.
  • Employer sponsored 401k with a 3% match.
  • Hybrid work environment, with 3 days per week required in office in Washington, D.C or New York.
