Previously, Carol was the Marketing Manager at Viracor Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics from January 2011 to December 2014. During their time at Viracor, Carol redirected the company's strategy from a singular focus to a cross-selling campaign supported by specialized testing and value-added tools. This new strategy led to increased revenue and recognition as a commercial leader in cross-selling campaigns.

In addition to their work in marketing, Carol has also been a collaborator and team leader for cross-functional teams to launch new products and services, including novel biomarker tests, gastrointestinal pathogen panels, sepsis markers, and antifungal drug monitoring assays. Carol has also formalized the HL7 interface process map and developed selling tools demonstrating cost savings to labs and physicians.

Carol Smith has a Bachelor of Science in both Chemical Science and Textile Science from Kansas State University. Carol also attended Shawnee Mission South and Bishop Miege, but did not receive a degree from either school.
