Position Summary:

Using a variety of test equipment performs efficient maintenance, installation, modification, and repair of electrical and avionics systems utilized on aircraft. Assists the Avionics Technician Lead in troubleshooting and testing standard avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspect, adjust, and repair basic avionics and electrical and electronic systems, such as Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS), Flight Management System (FMS), autopilot, and any special mission equipment utilized on assigned aircraft in accordance with technical manuals, FAA approved methods, techniques, and practices.

  • Utilize technical knowledge of avionics and electrical and electronic systems in determining equipment malfunctions and apply the required expertise in restoring equipment condition and/or operation.

  • Fabrication and troubleshooting of wire harnesses.

  • Function testing of avionics and electrical systems.

  • Remove and replace components and perform functional checks of these components.

  • Maintain, repair, install, and troubleshoot various types of avionic, electrical, and electronic systems and equipment and related devices using common and specialized test equipment.

  • Able to communicate effectively and cordially with coworkers and managers to ensure quality work in an efficient and appropriate time frame

  • Perform any additional duties as opportunities arise

Requirements:

  • Dynon, Garmin, or Avidyne experience
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and drawings
  • Basic tools for electronics (wire strippers, multimeter, etc)
  • A&P License Preferred
  • General Aviation experience
