Sofia Javed (she/hers)

Sofia Javed has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Sofia is currently working as a Software Engineer at Tidelift, where they have progressed from the role of Software Engineer I to Software Engineer II. Prior to that, they worked as a Tech Host at the Freestyle Love Supreme Academy, where they managed technology flow for an online course.

Sofia also had experience in the field of international development, working as a USAID Democracy Fellow at the Center of Excellence in Democracy, Rights, and Governance. Sofia also served as a Program Officer at the U.S. Department of State, managing a portfolio of foreign assistance programs in South and Central Asia. Additionally, they worked as an Editor at the U.S. Department of State's Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, where they managed the production cycle for the State Department's annual Trafficking in Persons Reports.

Sofia's career also includes experience as a journalist at the Moscow bureau of the Associated Press, during their time as an Alfa Fellow in Russia. Sofia was also involved in the Women PeaceMakers Program at the University of San Diego, where they worked as a writer documenting the stories of women leaders in conflict zones.

Furthermore, Sofia has held positions as a Communications and Outreach Specialist at Management Systems International, a U.S. Site Manager at Friends Forever USA, and a Research Assistant at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, University of Notre Dame.

Sofia Javed has a diverse educational background. Sofia attended The Grace Hopper Program at Fullstack Academy, where they pursued a program without obtaining a specific degree or field of study. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts - MA in International Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame. Before their time at Notre Dame, they earned a Bachelor of Science - BS in Journalism from Northwestern University. Sofia also attended Middlebury College for an Advanced intensive Arabic language and literature program. Lastly, they participated in a College Semester Abroad in Morocco at the School for International Training, focusing on Moroccan Language, Culture, and Society.
