Meet the team:  

As the Safety, Cyber and Architecture Group, we contribute to a key area of Torc's products. We ensure that the product is designed considering the state of the art in safety and cybersecurity for road vehicles building on standards like ISO26262, ISO21448 and ISO21434. 

What you’ll do: 

As safety architect you interact with hardware and software development teams to understand and model the realized architecture of the self-driving truck. You support the safety analysis of the system and collaborate to ensure that safety requirements are met. 

  • Model the realized system behavior through interaction with development teams 
  • Serve as bridge between functional system decomposition and SW/HW development 
  • Provide traceability between the architecture and upstream and downstream requirements  
  • Ensure the correctness of the model through reviews and verification 
  • Maintain the system model and keep it up to date 
  • Support safety experts for performing safety analysis   
  • Moderate changes to the architecture coming from safety analysis with development teams 
  • Change management and configuration management of the architecture 
  • Deliver architecture views consistent with different release milestones 
  • Collaborate with other development teams on specification development for our Autonomous Trucking program.
  • Support the systems and safety teams in developing the security architecture for product lines 
  • Coach teams on implementation of safety requirements 
  • Provide a single source of truth of the realized system architecture to the company 
  • Interface with external suppliers and guide them for architecture development 

What you’ll need to succeed: 

  • Degree(s) in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with relevant experience 
  • Master of Science degree with 7+ years of experience 
  • Bachelor of Science degree and 10+ years of experience 
  • Experience with Model-based Software / Systems Engineering 
  • Systems-level thinking, with underlying engineering knowledge of the complex physical and software systems used in autonomy technologies 
  • Solid understanding of industry standards and best practices related to autonomous technologies 
  • Demonstrated experience working according to key industry standards such as Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Safety Of The Intended Functionality (ISO 21448) 
  • Knowledge in the following disciplines: software engineering, networking, electrical and mechanical systems, system components, and artificial intelligence/machine learning 
  • Position requires occasional travel to Torc locations, government locations, etc. Travel is anticipated to be 15% or less 

Bonus Points! 

  • Certification related to systems engineering (e.g. INCOSE, IREB, etc..) 
  • Understanding of agile and software development life cycle processes 
  • Experience with Autonomous Vehicles or ADAS
