Bob Buch

Bob Buch has extensive experience in fire and emergency management. Bob started their career in 1985 as a Fire Inspector at the Town of Darien. Bob then progressed to the role of Deputy Fire Marshal, where they administered the CT Fire Safety Code through inspections, plan reviews, and code consultations. From 1996 to present, Bob has served as the Chief Fire Marshal for the Town of Darien. In this role, they manage the Office of Fire Marshal, conducts plan reviews for projects, and ensures compliance with required codes. Bob also leads fire prevention activities, inspections, public education, and fire investigations. Additionally, Bob served as the Fire Chief for THE NOROTON FIRE DEPARTMENT INCORPORATED from 1993 to 1996.

Bob Buch attended Norwalk Community College from 1980 to 1982, where they studied Information Technology. Bob also obtained certifications and additional training in various fields related to fire services and emergency management. Bob completed the Fire Services Administration, Fire Suppression, and Homeland Security courses at CT Fire Academy, although the specific years are unknown. Furthermore, they received certifications such as Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in February 2023 and the Fire Marshal State of CT from the State of CT Office of Education and Data Management in May 1986. Additionally, they obtained certifications from the US Department of Homeland Security, such as ICS-400: Advanced ICS Command and General Staff Complex Incidents in July 2012 and ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents in June 2010. Bob also completed various fire-related certifications, including Fire Officer III and Fire Service Instructor II from the State of CT Commission on Fire Prevention and Control and The Pro Board in January 2010 and May 2009, respectively. Furthermore, they obtained certifications in specialties such as Aerial Operator, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, Pump Operator, and Fire Inspector I at various times between 2001 and 2003.
