Michael MacHala

Senior Research Scientist: Energy Systems - Carbon Neutral Strategy at Toyota Research Institute

Michael Machala is a Senior Research Scientist at Toyota Research Institute, leading efforts in energy systems analysis for the carbon neutral strategy program. Michael is also the Chief Advisor and project founder at Pequrel Technologies Pvt Ltd, working to benefit farmers in rural communities of India. As a Climate Solutions Science Fellow at Spark Climate Solutions, Michael focuses on neglected climate areas. Previously, Michael was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, where Michael worked on lithium-ion batteries and energy-agriculture-development projects. Michael also has experience as a Luce Scholar and a Transatlantic Renewable Energy Fellow. Michael holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University and a BA in Chemical Physics from Kenyon College.
