Rachel Harkes has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Rachel started their career as a Senior Reporter at Hackney Gazette in 1995 and then moved on to work as a Press Officer at London Borough of Hackney. Later, they joined the UK Department of Health as a Senior Media Officer and then worked as a Media and Communications Manager at London Borough of Newham from 2000 to 2007. Rachel then worked as a Communications Consultant in a freelance capacity from 2007 to 2009. In 2014, they became the Head of Communications and Engagement at NHS Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group. Currently, Rachel is working as a Community Partnerships Lead at Transport for London since 2018.
Rachel Harkes attended Bishop Stopfords School from 1986 to 1993 for their high school education. Rachel then studied journalism at Harlow College from 1993 to 1994, earning a degree in NCTJ.
