Rachel Leder Couchenour has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of medical affairs and pharmaceuticals. Rachel is currently serving as the VP of Global Medical Affairs at Travere Therapeutics since June 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the VP and Head of US Medical Affairs at Novartis Gene Therapies (formerly AveXis) from September 2020 to May 2021.

Rachel's previous roles include VP of US Field Medical Affairs and Executive Director of US Field Medical Affairs at AveXis, Inc. from 2017 to 2020. Rachel also worked as the Senior Director of Medical Affairs at Mateon Therapeutics from 2015 to 2017.

Before their roles in medical affairs, Rachel held senior positions at Lundbeck, Chelsea Therapeutics, sanofi-aventis, and served as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Medical University of South Carolina and St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

Rachel's expertise lies in leading and expanding medical affairs teams, developing infrastructure and strategic plans, building relationships, and supporting new product launches in neurology and other therapeutic areas.

Rachel Leder Couchenour earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 1989 and 1994. Rachel then pursued a degree in Pharmacy, earning a PharmD from the Medical University of South Carolina from 1994 to 1996. Later, Rachel completed their education by obtaining an MBA in Marketing from Drexel University's LeBow College of Business from 2007 to 2009.
