Regional Improvement Lead, Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (amsp) at Tribal Group

Stephen Wilkinson has extensive work experience in the education sector. Stephen currently serves as the Regional Improvement Lead for the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP) at Tribal Group, where they provide school improvement expertise and leadership in mathematics education across the East Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber regions. Prior to that, they worked as a Principal Consultant at No Simpler, assisting schools and educational organizations in developing online learning platforms and educational technology strategies. Stephen also held the position of Head of Mathematics at The Grove Academy in Delta Academies Trust, where they led the department, implemented online tools for mathematics instruction, and developed assessment policies. Stephen has also held various roles at Leeds Trinity University, including Head of Initial Teacher Education Quality and Head of Secondary Education. Stephen was also the Founding Director of Leeds SCITT and worked as a Teacher at Allerton Grange High School. In addition, they have experience as an EdTech Consultant and ICT and Mathematics Subject Specialist at Education Development Trust, as well as a Researcher at the University of Leeds. Stephen's early career includes roles as a Senior Teacher, SENCO, and Mathematics Teacher at The Wensleydale School. Stephen'sexpertise lies in mathematics education, educational technology, professional development, and school improvement.

Stephen Wilkinson has an extensive education history. Beginning in 1986, they attended Queen Mary University of London and obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Computer Science and Mathematics in 1989. Following this, in 1990-1991, they pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) specializing in Secondary Education with a focus on Mathematics at the University of Leeds.

In 2001-2004, Stephen returned to the University of Leeds to pursue a Master of Research (MRes) degree in Education Technology and Development. Stephen then furthered their education at the same institution from 2007 to 2010, earning a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Development Studies and Education.

More recently, from 2018 to 2022, Stephen studied at The Open University, where they obtained a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree with a specialization in Measures of Effective Teaching.

In addition to their formal education, Stephen has obtained several certifications. Stephen became a Microsoft Innovative Educator Trainer in July 2021 and completed a Master Microsoft Teams for Remote Learning course offered by Microsoft in November 2020. Furthermore, in September 2020, they became a Google for Education Partner. Prior to this, they became a SMART Digital Champion accredited by Smart Technology in September 2017. One of their earliest certifications is Accredited Assertive Discipline Trainer, which they obtained in 1994 through ASSERTIVE DISCIPLINE LIMITED. Finally, Stephen also holds Qualified Teacher Status, awarded by the Department for Education in August 1991.
