Ian Smith

Ian Smith has an extensive experience in the healthcare sector. He is currently the Chair of Surrey Heartlands. He has been the Chair of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust between 2017 and 2019, and the Chairman of Four Seasons Healthcare between 2002 and 2016, the UK’s largest independent elderly and specialist care provider. Previously, Mr. Smith was Chief Executive of Reed Elsevier and of Taylor Woodrow and, from 2004 to 2006, of the private hospital company, General Healthcare Group. Before that, he had been CEO of Shell in Jordan, CEO Europe of Monitor Group and CEO Europe of Exel. He is also an Advisor in the Office of the Quartet Representative (Tony Blair Office) and was an Advisor to the Tony Blair government. Mr. Smith holds a Master of Arts from Oxford University and an MBA from Harvard.
