Angela Hess

Angela Hess has extensive work experience in software engineering and research. Angela is currently a Principal Software Engineer at Truveta since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Facebook from 2015-2021, where they held the role of Staff Software Engineer. Angela led efforts to verify commercial actors on Facebook for integrity purposes, with a focus on political advertisers for election integrity. Angela also led a team of engineers to improve stability and integrity of the verification platform.

Before their role at Facebook, Angela was a Software Engineering Intern at Facebook in 2014, where they revamped the user profile nicknames product and migrated the backend to a modern entity framework. Angela also has experience as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Washington in 2013, where they taught supplementary small group classes, graded coding assignments, and provided homework assistance.

In addition, Angela worked as a Software Development Engineer Intern at Amazon in 2013 and as a Research and Development Intern at Ashland Inc in 2012. Angela started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington from 2010-2012.

Angela Hess attended the University of Washington from 2009 to 2014. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science as well as a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Chemistry.
