Laura Barton's work experience begins in 2009 as a Marketing Intern at Howden, where they conducted marketing research and made recommendations for system improvements. In 2010, they worked at Columbia Country Club as an Assistant Controller, handling tasks such as reconciling cash transactions, managing accounts, and acting as the interim membership director. From 2011 to 2014, they joined Ayco, a Goldman Sachs Company, as part of the Quality Control & Training team, overseeing scheduling, attendance, and delinquency of trainings and playing a role in creating data-aggregation website specifications. Laura then worked at Pennington Law Firm, LLC as a Technology & Innovation Manager from 2014 to 2016, where they customized project management software and oversaw data migration and firm-wide implementation. In 2016, they became a Business Development Coordinator at Warren Forensics, increasing workload and attracting new business through conferences and networking events. Laura then took on the role of Information Technology Technical Recruiter at SYSTEMTEC from 2018 to 2022, attracting and placing IT talent. Currently, they are an Enterprise IT Recruiter at TSR Consulting Services, Inc., responsible for attracting and placing IT and non-IT talent nationally.

Laura Barton earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a focus on Business Management (Emphasis in HR) and Marketing from the University of South Carolina, where they studied from 2006 to 2010.
