Darren Williams is currently a Professor and Director of the Joining 4.0 Innovation Centre at Lancaster University since April 2020 and serves as the Welding Systems Manager at TWI since June 2015, focusing on digital manufacturing solutions and automation strategies. Williams has been actively involved in the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) from September 2015 to July 2021, holding various positions including Council Member and Chairman of the South Yorkshire Local Network: Young Professionals. Prior experience includes a role as the Wax Process Owner at Rolls-Royce, where responsibilities encompassed overseeing a £10M automated production area, and earlier positions with GE Power Conversion and Rolls-Royce as a summer placement engineer. Williams holds a Doctor of Engineering (EngD) from the University of Bath and a Master’s Degree from The University of Sheffield.
