Mark McElwain

Mark McElwain has a diverse work experience in the field of biosciences. Mark is currently working as a Senior Product Development Scientist at TwinStrand Biosciences since May 2022. Previously, they served as a Principal Scientist at Adaptive Biotechnologies Corp. from April 2020 to March 2022, where they focused on developing nucleic acid extraction and analysis methods for clinical NGS workflows. At NanoString Technologies, Inc., they worked as a Scientist II from August 2016 to March 2020, leading a team to develop and optimize workflows for Next Generation Sequencing technology. Before that, they were a Senior Scientist at Complete Genomics Inc. from January 2014 to March 2016, where they managed a team and performed laboratory experiments. Mark also worked as a Scientist at Complete Genomics Inc. from September 2011 to January 2014, improving the quality of next-generation sequencing libraries. Prior to their industry experience, they pursued their PhD in Developmental Biology at Stanford University School of Medicine from September 2004 to August 2011, where they conducted research and mentored students. Mark started their research career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Washington Department of Biochemistry.

Mark McElwain has a PhD in Developmental Biology from Stanford University School of Medicine. Prior to that, they earned a BS with Honors in Biochemistry and Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington.
