Pengyu Zhang

Pengyu Zhang is a Senior Engineering Manager at Uber since January 2024, leading a team focused on building big data processing engines and machine learning systems for Uber's security services. Prior to this role, Pengyu served as a Senior Engineering Manager at Alibaba Group from June 2018 to January 2024, where leadership was provided to a group developing cloud network infrastructure for AI workloads and cloud-native services. Earlier positions include Staff Engineer at Alibaba, building RFID-based automation systems for logistics, and Postdoc Researcher at Stanford University, where innovation in hardware and software systems for backscatter communication was achieved. Pengyu's career began with research internships at Microsoft and Motorola Mobility. Pengyu holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University.
