Dr Pravin Iyengar

Technical Manager- Power Electronics at Ubiqutek

Dr Pravin Iyengar has had a varied and impressive career in power electronics. Dr Pravin started as a Researcher at the University of Strathclyde in 2009, where they conducted research and development of MOSFET and IGBT based pulsed power systems in an Inductive Voltage Adder/ LTD configuration. In 2013, they were a Visiting Scholar at Fudan University. Later that year, they became a Power Electronics Design Engineer at Continental Engineering Services UK (Zytek Automotive), where they upgraded an existing gate driver Flyback converter circuit for operation with input voltages up to 800V. In 2015, they became an R&D Engineer Power Electronics & Systems at Siemens Wind Power, where they were responsible for technology study on existing Siemens power converters. In 2016, they became a Principal Power Engineer at XTA Electronics Limited, where they were the technical lead and first point of contact for power electronics related queries. Finally, in 2019, they became a Power Electronics Development Manager and Senior Power Engineer at RootWave (Ubiqutek Ltd), where they worked with leadership to define solutions and product road map, as well as hardware architecture design of high voltage and high power converters for weed zapping applications.

Dr Pravin Iyengar holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Power Electronics from the University of Strathclyde, which they obtained between 2009 and 2013. Prior to that, they obtained an MEng (Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Loughborough University between 2005 and 2009.
