Dumitru Brinza

Dumitru Brinza has a strong background in bioinformatics and computational biology. Dumitru has held several senior roles in reputable companies and organizations. Most recently, they served as the Senior Director of Computational Biology at Ultima Genomics. Prior to that, Brinza worked as an Associate Director of Bioinformatics at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where they played a key role in developing core algorithms for next-generation sequencing applications. Dumitru also worked as a Senior Staff Scientist at Life Technologies, specializing in computational biology algorithms and data analysis for the Ion Torrent NGS platform. Brinza's experience in bioinformatics extends back to their time at Applied Biosystems, where they worked as a Staff Scientist developing algorithms for the SOLiD NGS platform. Dumitru has also made significant contributions in the field during their time as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UC San Diego and as a Research Assistant at Georgia State University. Additionally, Brinza has experience outside of the bioinformatics field, having worked as a Software Engineer at UNISIM-SOFT SRL and as the Head of Informatics at the National Bank of Moldova. Dumitru Brinza obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Universitatea de Stat din Moldova, where they studied from 1997 to 2002. Dumitru then pursued a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a focus on Bioinformatics at Georgia State University from 2004 to 2007. Following this, Dumitru completed a Post-doctoral program in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at UC San Diego from 2007 to 2009.
