Paula Thompson

Paula Thompson, PhD, is a seasoned professional in the field of research and education, currently serving as the Program Director for Research, Innovation, Scholarship, and Education (RISE) at Michigan Medicine since July 2018. Previously, Paula held the position of Director of Advancing Scholarship at the University of Michigan Medical School from September 2015 to July 2018, and served as a Project Manager in various capacities at both the University of Michigan Medical School and the School of Nursing. An accomplished academic, Paula has also contributed as adjunct faculty at Adrian College and worked as a Research Area Specialist at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Paula is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm, having served in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 1992. Educationally, Paula earned a PhD in Medical Sociology from Wayne State University and holds both a BS and MA in Sociology from Eastern Michigan University.
