In 2016, Strickman founded an alliance of Title IX administrators within the Big Ten Conference where they discuss issues, practices and policies related to Title IX.

Prior to working at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Strickman worked as a prosecutor in Chicago for 14 years, where she handled matters in the divisions of sex crimes and domestic violence, felony trial, juvenile justice, felony review and traffic.
