Daniel Lucas has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Daniel started their career as an Office Manager at La Carte, Inc. in 1986, where they managed accounts receivable and payable for a corporate catering business. Daniel then worked as a Department Manager at Mercantile Stores, Inc. from 1988 to 1995, responsible for managing various departments and overseeing staff. Afterwards, Lucas worked as a freelance writer, contributing to publications such as the Atlanta Journal Constitution and other local and national outlets. In 2004, they joined Kid Chess as a Teacher/Manager, teaching chess to elementary school students and supervising other teachers. Lucas then moved on to US Chess, where they held the position of Director of Publications from 2005 to 2018 before being promoted to Senior Director of Strategic Communication. In this role, they were responsible for all external communications, marketing strategies, public relations activities, and internal communications. Overall, Lucas has a strong background in management, teaching, writing, and strategic communication.
