Wendy Thomson

Professor Wendy Thomson CBE currently serves as Vice-Chancellor of the University of London, a position held since February 2019, and previously held the title of Vice Chancellor Designate. Notable prior roles include Professor of Social Policy at McGill University from September 2005 to July 2019 and Chief Executive of Norfolk County Council from August 2014 to January 2019. As a Commissioner for the Commission to Promote Sustainable Child Welfare for the Ontario government, Wendy Thomson contributed to reforming child welfare in Ontario. Additional significant positions include Chief Advisor for Public Service Reform in the Prime Minister's Office in England, Director of Inspection at the Audit Commission, and Chief Executive of the London Borough of Newham. Academic qualifications include a Master of Social Work (MSW) from McGill University and a PhD in social policy from the University of Bristol.
