Melissa Schnuck Weddell

Melissa Schnuck Weddell serves as the Director of the Institute for Tourism & Recreation Research at the University of Montana since July 2022. Prior to this role, Weddell spent 13 years at Appalachian State University, holding positions as Department Chair and Professor. Additional academic experience includes serving as an Assistant Professor at Georgia Southern University and a Graduate Assistant at Clemson University. Weddell's early career involved working as a Business Counselor at the Small Business Development Center from 1998 to 2002. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management from Clemson University, an MBA in Organizational Behavior Studies from Southern Illinois University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Entrepreneurial and Small Business Operations from Ball State University.
