Michael Binder

Michael Binder is a professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and the faculty director of the Public Opinion Research Lab (PORL). He joined UNF in the fall of 2011. Formerly a post-doc and visiting scholar at Stanford University’s Bill Lane Center for the American West and Hoover Institution, he received his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego in 2010. His research interests include voter decision-making, direct democracy, American politics and public opinion. He is a regular contributor to various media outlets and has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. His research has generated more than $2 million in funding while leading the PORL.

Dr. Binder assumed his role on the UNF Board of Trustees in September 2022 with a term ending in August 2024.
