Lewis MacKenzie

Chancellors Fellow (lecturer And Research Group Leader) at University of Strathclyde

Lewis MacKenzie is a Chancellors Fellow and BBSRC Discovery Fellow at the University of Strathclyde, where ongoing research focuses on nanoparticle biosensors for non-invasive measurement of blood oxygen. Prior experience includes a BBSRC Discovery Fellowship at Durham University, specializing in the integration of biophotonics and nanotechnology for improved blood oxygen measurement, and a postdoctoral role developing optical instrumentation for spectroscopy and microscopy of chiral molecular probes. At the University of Leeds, Lewis worked as a postdoctoral research fellow on photonic upconversion nanoparticles for rapid blood tests and as a postdoctoral research assistant on optical assays for detecting molecular biomarkers. Lewis began academic training with a PhD at the University of Glasgow in in vivo oximetry using multispectral imaging, following a Master of Science in Astrophysics and a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Astronomy from the same institution.
