Jane Armstrong is a Professor of Cell Biology and Principal Lecturer in Life Sciences at the University of Sunderland, where responsibilities include providing strategic academic leadership to the Bioscience and Environment team and managing multiple undergraduate and MSc programmes. Jane currently teaches courses in Biological Chemistry, Blood Science, and Haematology, while research interests focus on the catabolic process of autophagy, with an emphasis on skin cancer and disease biomarker discovery. Prior to current roles, Jane served as Chief Research Officer at AMLo Biosciences and held positions as a Senior Research Associate and Research Associate at Newcastle University, concentrating on stress-sensitive signalling pathways in cell survival and death. Jane holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Newcastle University and a First Class BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry from the University of Nottingham.
