Michael Grinnell

Michael Grinnell is an accomplished information security professional with extensive experience in higher education institutions. Currently serving as the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer and interim Chief Information Security Officer at the University of Virginia since June 2016, Michael previously held various leadership roles, including Director of Enterprise Architecture, Director of Systems Engineering Services, and Senior Information Security Engineer at American University from September 2003 to June 2016. Michael began a career at American University in June 2000 as a LAN Analyst II, advancing through different roles over three years. Michael holds a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from the Kogod School of Business at American University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from American University’s School of International Service.
