Marcela Carvalho has a diverse work experience spanning across various industries. Marcela began their career as a member of the Robotic Division in a Junior Enterprise called Mecajun - Mecatrônica Júnior de Brasília from 2010 to 2012, where they worked on projects for competitions and the enterprise itself.
In 2011, Marcela joined Universidade de Brasília as an undergraduate researcher, a role they held until 2013. During this time, they gained valuable research experience.
Marcela then interned as a software engineering intern at Thales in 2013, further expanding their technical skills. Marcela continued their studies at Universidade de Brasília and worked on their final year project from 2013 to 2014. Additionally, they were a funded project undergraduate researcher, where they collaborated with the Central School of Lyon (ECL) to extend the functionalities of the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) simulator.
In 2015, Marcela had an internship at Thales Theresis Image Lab, working on a project called "Sense & Avoid for mini-drones". Here, they contributed to developing a drone capable of detecting obstacles and minimizing trajectory errors.
From 2009 to 2014, Marcela was a member of a robotic team for IEEE competitions, participating in Brazilian and Latin American competitions that required intelligent robots without human control.
Marcela's professional journey continued at ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab, where they worked as a PhD student from 2016 to 2019, focusing on their specialization in Machine Learning and Computer Vision.
Most recently, in 2019, Marcela joined Upciti as a Machine Learning and Computer Vision Engineer, utilizing their expertise to contribute to the company's projects.

Marcela Carvalho completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from ENSTA Bretagne in the years 2012 to 2013. Marcela then pursued their Master's degree in the same field at the University of Montpellier from 2014 to 2015. Later, Marcela Carvalho attended Universidade de Brasília and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering, which they completed from 2009 to 2014. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Vision at Télécom Paris from 2016 to 2019.
