André Rosa Alexandre

André Rosa Alexandre has a diverse work experience in the medical field. André Rosa started their career at the Departamento de Microbiologia da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas - Universidade Nova de Lisboa as an Investigador Auxiliar from February 2012 to August 2013. From there, they moved on to Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra, E.P.E. as a Interno do Ano Comum for the year 2014.

In 2015, André joined Hospital da Luz as a Médico Interno de Medicina Interna, a role they held until July 2020. During their time at Hospital da Luz, they also served as a Médico da Equipa de Urgência da Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos from October 2017 to July 2020. In July 2020, André became a Fellow de Medicina Intensiva at the same hospital.

Alongside their work at Hospital da Luz, André also gained experience as an Operacional Médico at Viatura Médica de Emergência e Reanimação (VMER) - Cascais from June 2016 onwards.

In 2017, André took on the additional role of Formador de Suporte Avançado de Vida at Ocean Medical, a position they still hold.

Starting from May 2018 until January 2019, André worked as a Médico in the Serviço de Helicópteros de Emergência Médica (SHEM) do INEM.

André Rosa then joined Hospital Beatriz Ângelo in January 2019 as a Médico da Equipa de Urgência da Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos.

In 2021, André joined UpHill Health as a Lead Medical Advisor.

Finally, André has also served as a faculty member at the Faculty of Medical Sciences - New University of Lisbon. André Rosa first worked as a Monitor Convidado from September 2008 to August 2013 and later as an Assistente Convidado from September 2013 to September 2018.

André Rosa Alexandre has a diverse education history in the field of medicine and health sciences. André Rosa first attended the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas at NOVA Medical School from 2021 to 2025, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Health Sciences and Medicine. Prior to this, from 2019 to 2021, André completed the Portugal Clinical Scholars Research Training (PTCSRT) program at Harvard Medical School, focusing on clinical research.

In terms of previous degrees, André obtained a Master's degree in Medicina from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the New University of Lisbon, which they pursued from 2007 to 2013. André Rosa also completed specialized courses and fellowships to enhance their expertise in specific medical areas. In 2016, André pursued the Curso VMER Médicos at the Instituto Nacional de Emergência Médica (INEM), specializing in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine. In 2018, they completed the Curso de Fisiologia de Vôo e Segurança em Heliportos (FVSH) at INEM, which focused on Emergency Medical Helitransport. Additionally, André undertook a fellowship in Point of Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) at the Hospital Universitário Infanta Cristina in 2018, and another fellowship in Autoimmune Diseases at UCL in 2017.

Furthermore, André enriched their medical education with various short-term programs and workshops. These include a Curto Estágio Médico em Férias (CEMEF) in Pediatric Cardiology at the Serviço de Cardiologia Pediátrica do Hospital de Santa Cruz in 2012, a Trauma Evaluation and Management (TEAM) course at ATLS / Departamentos de Cirurgia II e Educação Médica da FCM-UNL in 2011, and a semester of academic mobility at the Faculdade de Medicina of the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in 2011.

Finally, André engaged in several workshops and mini-courses to enhance their technical skills and knowledge. These include a Mini-Curso de Dissecação Cadavérica Humana at the Gabinete de Estudos Pós-Graduados e Departamento de Anatomia da FCM-UNL in 2010, a Twinning Project at the Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München in 2009, a Workshop de Suturas e Hemostáticos Tópicos at the Gabinete de Estudos Pós-Graduados e Departamento de Anatomia da FCM-UNL in 2009, and a Mini-Curso de Fisiologia Cardíaca at the Programa Descobrir – Departamento de Ciência e Investigação da ANEM in 2009. André also completed a Workshop de Instrumental Cirúrgico - Feridas e Suturas at the Gabinete de Estudos Pós-Graduados e Departamento de Anatomia da FCM-UNL in 2008 and a Curso de Formação Pedagógica para Docentes do Ensino Superior at the Gabinete de Estudos Pós-Graduados e Departamento de Educação Médica da FCM-UNL in the same year.

Lastly, André obtained a certification as a Tripulante de Ambulância de Transporte, specializing in Basic Life Support and First Aid, from the Associação dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Algueirão - Mem-Martins in 2006.
