Derrick Ward

Derrick Ward is an experienced legal professional currently serving as the Senior Director of Legal Affairs and Title IX Coordinator at Uplift Education since November 2021. Prior to this role, Derrick held the position of Assistant General Counsel at the Dallas Independent School District from October 2019 to November 2021. Derrick's legal career includes significant experience as an Associate at Carrington Coleman and Thompson & Horton LLP, as well as a Civil Rights Attorney with the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights. Derrick's background also includes a fellowship at the NEA Office of General Counsel and earlier roles with the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas and Teach For America as a High School Teacher. Derrick holds a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Cornell University.
