Alex Berger, MPP, currently serves as a Senior Federal Affairs Advisor at the Urban Institute, starting in December 2023. Prior to this role, Alex was the Manager of Government Affairs at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where advocacy work focused on anti-hunger, affordable housing, and income assistance policies. Key achievements include directing a legislative advocacy campaign that secured a $150 billion investment in affordable housing. Experience also includes positions as Political and Field Coordinator for Biden for President, Senior Associate in the Public Safety Performance Project at The Pew Charitable Trusts, and various roles in criminal justice reform and youth employment initiatives at the ACLU and U.S. Department of Education. Alex holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The College of New Jersey.
