Matt Hayes has worked in a variety of roles since 2000. From 2000 to 2003, they were a Software Developer at Exegetics, Inc., where they implemented a network architecture for communication within a client/server project, designed custom software API, and designed development tools for network packet analysis. From 2003 to 2005, they were the Lead Programmer/Designer at Digimonkey Studios, where they designed and built a custom game engine for simulating the play-by-play action of a web-based, fantasy sports game, and coded game mechanics and individual player A.I. From 2005 to 2009, they were a Senior Systems Analyst at The University of Texas. During this time, they were also a Software Developer (Contractor) (Self Employed) and an iPhone User Interface Developer at Zehicle, Inc. and an iPhone Developer (Contractor) at Live Oak 360. From 2009 to 2012, they were the Chief Technical Officer and Founder at GYLO (GetYa Learn On). From 2012 to 2013, they were an Independent Software Development Consultant as a Software Engineer. Finally, from 2013 to present, they have been a Principal Engineer / Mobile, Senior Software Developer, Technical Product Manager, and iOS Developer at uShip.

Matt Hayes attended Virginia Tech from 1995 to 2001, where they studied Computer Engineering. Matt has also obtained a number of certifications since then, including Android App Development: Accessibility from LinkedIn in December 2021, Incident Responder Certification from PagerDuty in September 2021, Certified Incident Responder from PagerDuty in October 2020, Foundations from Pragmatic Institute (Pragmatic Marketing + TDI) in October 2018, PMC Level I from Pragmatic Institute (Pragmatic Marketing + TDI) in October 2018, and Certified Scrum Product Owner from Scrum Alliance in June 2018.
