Sarah Dunbar

Community Engagement Manager at USS Constitution Museum

Sarah Dunbar has a diverse range of work experience in the museum and education fields. Sarah began their career as an Education Summer Intern at the Strawbery Banke Museum in 2013. Sarah then went on to work as a Student Assistant at the Villanova University Art Gallery, where they assisted with coordinating gallery exhibits and the organization of the university's art collection.

In 2014, Sarah served as an Augustinian Volunteer at Villanova Preparatory School, where they had various responsibilities in supporting the school community. Sarah later worked as a Mentor at the High School of the Future, leading and guiding students in their research and senior projects, and implementing a successful college prep program.

Sarah gained hands-on experience in the museum field as a Creative Engagement Intern at the Peabody Essex Museum, where they assisted in the research and production of programming for families and young visitors. Sarah also organized the PEM Pals program, which focused on storytelling and art making.

At the Bostonian Society, Sarah served as an Education Associate, leading guided tours of the Old State House Museum and supporting interactive programming for school and student groups. Sarah also worked in the society's Library and Archives.

Sarah's most recent experience was at the USS Constitution Museum, where they held multiple roles. Sarah began as the Engage Families Coordinator, assisting in a grant-funded research project focused on engaging inter-generational family audiences in museum programs and exhibits. Sarah then became the Special Projects Coordinator, where they supported various educational initiatives and coordinated the All Aboard project. Most recently, Sarah worked as the Assistant Education Manager and the Community Engagement Manager. In these roles, they developed, facilitated, and evaluated K-12 student and youth programs, family programs, and public programs. Sarah also managed the All Aboard and Salute to Service projects, coordinating efforts to meet grant objectives and maintaining communication with key staff and partners.

Sarah Dunbar attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School from 2006 to 2010 but did not earn a degree or specify a field of study. Sarah then went on to attend Villanova University from 2010 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Art History.
