Lauren Serafy

Lauren Serafy has extensive work experience in the field of social work, with a focus on human mobility and non-profit consulting. Lauren is currently the Associate Director of the Human Mobility Institute at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where they provide services to individuals and communities affected by human mobility in the Rio Grande Valley. In addition, they are a Lecturer at the same university. Lauren is also a Ph.D. student at Baylor University's Diana R. Garland School of Social Work. Previously, they worked as a Non-Profit Consultant and Grant Writer at Lauren Serafy Consulting and as a Foundation Grants Manager at Dallas CASA. Lauren has also held positions as an Adjunct Lecturer at Baylor University, a Community Development Social Work Intern at City Center Waco, and a Generalist Social Work Intern and AmeriCorps Member at Communities In Schools of the Heart of Texas. Lauren Serafy holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Baylor University, which they completed from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Applied Learning and Development, with a minor in Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 2008. In terms of additional certifications, Lauren is a Licensed Master Social Worker from TBHEC and has completed Grantsmanship Training from The Grantsmanship Center.
