Zouhir al-Shimale

Zouhir Al-Shimale currently serves as the Head Of Research at Valent Projects since June 2020 and has been working as a freelance Arabic-English translator since October 2018, collaborating with journalists to enhance communication and understanding. Previously, Zouhir was a freelance journalist for various publications, including AJENews, Middle East Eye, and The Guardian. A notable achievement includes attending The Guardian In-Depth stories course in Istanbul, leading to a joint feature story project. Earlier experience involved project management roles at Basmeh & Zeitooneh, focusing on vocational training and livelihood access for Syrian youth and women, and at Kesh Malek, raising awareness of enforced disappearances in Syria. Zouhir holds a Master's degree in Human Rights Law from SOAS University of London and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Aleppo University.
