Vice President For Research Compliance at Van Andel Institute

Craig Reynolds has a strong background in research administration and compliance, spanning over several decades. Starting in 1991, they worked as an Administrator at the General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania, overseeing operations and managing research grant budgets. Craig then joined the National Science Foundation as a Program Manager and Information Assistant for a year before transitioning to Central Michigan University as a Research and Program Officer. At Central Michigan University, they were responsible for developing policies related to grant management and technology transfer, as well as conducting workshops and assisting faculty with proposal submissions.

In 2009, Reynolds became the Chief Administrator of Biological Chemistry at the University of Michigan Medical School, where they served until 2013. Craig then moved to the University of Michigan's Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP), first as an Associate Director and later as an Executive Director. In these roles, they led teams responsible for the submission and implementation of multi-billion dollar sponsored research projects. Reynolds provided vision and leadership for efficient operations, developed policies to address changes in sponsor requirements, and represented the University at professional meetings and committees.

Additionally, Reynolds served as a Board Member for the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) from 2010 to 2011 and from 2014 to 2017. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President for Research Compliance at the Van Andel Institute, a role they started in 2022. Overall, Reynolds has a wealth of experience in research compliance, sponsored projects, and leadership in the field of research administration.

Craig Reynolds attended Grand Valley State University from 1984 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. In addition, they obtained a certification in Lean Office from the University of Michigan, College of Engineering in 2013.
