Laura Shearer

Mechanical Engineer, Process Engineering at Varex Imaging

Laura Shearer has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Laura is currently employed as a Mechanical Engineer in Process Engineering at Varex Imaging Corporation since March 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Zimmer Biomet, starting in 2016. At Zimmer Biomet, their roles included Principal Quality Engineer in New Product Development from September 2020 to March 2021, Senior Quality Engineer II in New Product Development from June 2018 to September 2020, and Senior Quality Engineer I in New Product Development from April 2016 to June 2018. Before joining Zimmer Biomet, Laura worked at Biomet from 2013 to 2016, where they held positions such as Quality Engineer in Sustaining from April 2015 to April 2016 and Quality Engineer Associate in Sustaining from January 2013 to April 2015. Additionally, Laura has previous experience as an R&D Engineering Intern at Varian Medical Systems from March 2011 to September 2012 and as a National Science Foundation Outreach Ambassador at the University of Utah from March 2010 to March 2011. Laura also interned at Technische Universität München from May 2010 to August 2010 as part of a DAAD scholarship, where they worked on creating a C++ program for robot simulation in stereoscopic 3D under the guidance of a PhD student.

Laura Shearer graduated from the University of Utah in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to that, from 2001 to 2005, they attended Brigham Young University where they earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology - Archaeology.
