Liza Douiev-Charpak, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of genetics and medical sciences. Liza started their career at the Hadassah Medical Center in 2018, where they worked as a Genetic Counselor and also gained experience as a Genetic Counseling Intern. In 2021, they joined Variantyx as a Clinical Variant Scientist. In addition to their clinical roles, Liza has also been involved in teaching at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. From 2013 to 2015, they served as a Teaching Assistant, and from 2016 to 2021, they took on multiple teaching roles including teaching human genetics to MD and DMD students and serving as a Teaching Assistant for the course "Secrets of the Human Genome - 94323". Liza's extensive academic background is highlighted by their role as a PhD student in Medical Sciences and Human Genetics at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where they conducted research on a novel form of cytochrome c oxidase defect. Liza pursued their education primarily at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from 2009 to 2013. Building upon this foundation, Liza went on to complete their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Human/Medical Genetics, specifically focusing on the Department of Genetics and Metabolic Diseases from 2013 to 2015 at the same institution. Driven by their passion for further research and expertise, they continued their academic journey at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and successfully attained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Human/Medical Genetics between 2016 and 2021.

To complement their education, Liza Douiev-Charpak also obtained important certifications in the field. In 2017, they acquired the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification from the NIDA Clinical Coordinating Center.
