Principal Embedded Engineer at Vay

Sebastian Holzapfel has a diverse work experience in various companies. Starting in 2014, they worked as a Technical Officer for Airservices Australia as a full-time intern/cadet. In 2015, they joined CSIRO's Data61 as a Kernel Engineer, where they played a key role in developing and implementing new features for the eChronos Real-Time Operating System. Sebastian then worked at Dolby Laboratories as an Intern DSP Engineer, focusing on developing and implementing DSP algorithms to optimize audio distortion in TV and Soundbar manufacturing.

In 2016, they became an Academic Tutor at UNSW Australia, where they taught and tutored classes in Advanced Operating Systems, Operating Systems, and Higher Computing. In 2017, Sebastian joined Waymo as a Hardware Engineer, specializing in sensor development for self-driving vehicles. Their work at Waymo involved embedded driver development, calibration and testing, and software infrastructure for fleet analytics.

Sebastian also worked as an Electronics Engineer/Musician at apfelaudio, where they developed tools for electronic music production. Currently, they are employed as a Senior Embedded Engineer at Vay, working on the core embedded systems of the company's teledriving technology, with a focus on ISO26262 compliance.

Sebastian Holzapfel obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from UNSW, which they pursued from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they attended The Riverina Anglican College for their high school education from 2007 to 2013. In addition to their formal education, Sebastian also obtained the Amateur Radio License (Advanced) from The Wireless Institute of Australia in September 2015.
