James Peterson II

James "Pete" Peterson II, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, currently serves as Vice President of Total Rewards at VCU Health, where responsibilities include leading comprehensive strategies to attract and retain top talent, alongside oversight of compensation, benefits, and child care divisions. Previous roles include Associate Vice President of Total Rewards at VCU Health, Director of Human Resources for Sentara Health Plans and Sentara Life Care, and Director of Human Resources at Virginia Premier, among others. James has extensive experience in human resources management, employee relations, and organizational development, and has held positions in various organizations, including the Federal Reserve System and James City County Government. Educational qualifications include an M.B.A. in Business/Managerial Economics and a B.S. in Management, Finance, and Economics from Hampton University. James has also contributed to academia as an adjunct professor at Hampton University.
