Mike Williams

Mike Williams has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mike began their career at Wal-Mart in 1997 as a Programmer Analyst, where they gained expertise in coding BTEQ, Mload, Fastload, and TPUMP scripts. Mike then joined Open Port Technology as a Client Support Specialist, responsible for installing, testing, and supporting client installs. In 2000, they became a Data Warehouse Consultant at Teradata, working on multiple accounts and streamlining ETL processes.

In 2003, Mike joined BNSF Railway as a Solutions Architect, where they developed Teradata load utilities and BTEQS across different platforms. Mike also monitored Teradata systems, identified performance issues, and analyzed warehouse usage trends.

Mike transitioned to Salesforce in 2020, starting as a Product Analyst and later becoming a Product Manager. In these roles, they supported the rollout of Salesforce Tableau Server, created documentation and user guides, and worked with customers to understand data needs. Mike also conducted research and analysis to identify tables for deprecation.

Most recently, Mike worked at NTWRK as an Analytics Engineer. Mike played a key role in migrating the warehouse from Redshift to Snowflake and implementing streaming ingestion from Kafka to Snowflake for real-time inventory updates. Mike also implemented dbt cloud to convert existing SQL runs to dbt models.

Mike Williams attended the University of Central Oklahoma from 1992 to 1996, where they earned a Bachelor of Business degree with a focus on Management Information Systems (MIS). In addition to their degree, Mike has obtained several certifications throughout their career. These certifications include Advanced SQL from CoRise in March 2023, Python Crash Course from CoRise in September 2022, SnowPro Core Certification from Snowflake in January 2022, Analytics Engineering with dbt from co:rise in December 2021, dbt Fundamentals from dbt Labs in December 2021, Implementing an Azure Data Solution - DP200 from Microsoft in November 2019, Google Analytics from Google in May 2023, and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from Scrum Alliance in July 2021.
