Vice President - Health

Venn is seeking a Vice President to join its health care practice and play a leadership role in the practice’s appropriations work in support of new and existing clients. The ideal candidate is an experienced congressional staffer, HHS official, or seasoned lobbyist with experience in health care advocacy, including legislative or regulatory work.  Applicants should have a strong track record of legislative or regulatory successes and have close working relationships with senior-level Congressional staff as well as political appointees in the Administration.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant health policy experience.
  • Service on Capitol Hill and/or the Administration; some experience with appropriations preferred.
  • In place of public service, experience independently managing client advocacy and project efforts.
  • Deep content competency in one or more subject areas related to health policy.
  • Success in mapping and executing strategy for achieving client/project goals.
  • Lead roles in client and/or other advocacy meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively engage with senior-level political and policy relationships and in third-party organizations to support client and firm goals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently generate clear federal advocacy deliverables.
  • Anticipate client and project needs and engage internal and external assets to meet them.
  • Identify challenges to reach targeted objectives and proactively design strategy/engage resources to seek alternative approaches.
  • Be a strong and consistent mentor to junior staff members.
  • Provide clear value to business development pitches.
  • Show clear initiative in bringing policy ideas to the management team and clients on how to achieve client business goals.
  • Demonstrate superlative analytical and communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Provide regular, constructive input to improve the operations of the firm and to bolster the value of the firm’s client work.
