Main Function & Scope

The Predictive Maintenance Technician is part of the Asset Maintenance team in the Operations Department . We are a large European and UK Independent Power Producer (“IPP”). Reporting to the Predictive Maintenance manager, this role is a determinant for enhancing our energy assets' reliability and operational efficiency, primarily through advanced diagnostic techniques and data analytics. This role will focus on predicting potential failures in wind turbines and other renewable energy equipment to ensure uninterrupted energy production.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Monitoring and Diagnostics: Monitor critical wind turbine components using condition monitoring systems, mainly focusing on vibration analysis. Perform oil analysis reports assessment and cross-reference results with vibration data to assess equipment health and predict failures accurately.

  2. Maintenance Planning and Coordination: Work closely with reliability teams to develop preventive maintenance schedules based on predictive analytics to optimise operational efficiency and minimise equipment downtime. Coordinate the installation and maintenance activities associated with the Condition Monitoring Systems.

  3. Reporting and Documentation: Document diagnostic findings, maintenance actions, and recommendations in detailed reports. Effectively communicate predictive insights to the Predictive Maintenance Manager and other stakeholders to support maintenance decisions.

  4. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest predictive maintenance technologies and methodologies developments. Suggest and implement improvements to the predictive maintenance program to enhance equipment lifespan and reduce maintenance costs.

  5. Stakeholder Engagement and Training: Provide training and support to other maintenance staff on predictive maintenance needs. Engage with equipment suppliers and technical experts to address and resolve complex technical issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

  • Certifications: Certification in vibration analysis Level II (desirable).

Experience:

  • Experience in predictive maintenance within the energy sector, particularly focusing on wind turbines.

  • Practical experience with diagnostic tools, specifically in vibration and oil analysis.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in interpreting complex data.

  • Expertise in predictive maintenance software and diagnostic tools.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • English speaker (other languages are valued)

  • Experience with wind turbine converters and PV panel inverters (desirable).

  • Experience integrating various data analytics to enhance diagnostic precision and outcomes (desirable).
