Joseph Springsteen has extensive experience in the field of privacy law and cybersecurity. Joseph began their career as an Associate at DLA Piper, where they managed legal issues related to trademarks, franchising, and intellectual property. Joseph then worked as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, collaborating with law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute cybercrime and intellectual property cases. Joseph also served as a Senior Cyber Investigator at Apple, managing and investigating cases involving cybercrime, fraud, and intellectual property offenses. Joseph later became the Director of Privacy and Compliance Counsel at Sony, providing advice on information security and privacy compliance. Joseph also held positions at the United States Attorney's Office, eBay, and Verisign, where they oversaw global privacy compliance programs and provided legal advice on privacy matters. Prior to their legal career, Joseph worked as a System Administrator at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Joseph Springsteen received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996. Joseph then pursued a Doctor of Law (JD) degree at the American University Washington College of Law, completing it in 2000. Additionally, they obtained the CIPP/US certification from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in 2014.
