Andrea Solazzo

Director Of Community Engagement at Vermont Foodbank

Andrea Solazzo has a diverse work experience with various organizations. They started their career as an Environmental Service-Learning Fellow at Eckerd College in 2009, where they managed student employees and implemented recycling and composting programs. They also developed a vegetable farm and organized service-learning trips.

In 2010, Andrea joined Loretto Community as a United Nations Assistant Representative, focusing on food sovereignty, climate justice, and gender equality. They participated in COP 16 UN Climate Change conference in Mexico and toured the country to meet indigenous communities affected by climate change and corporate exploitation.

In 2011, Andrea held a position as a Program Coordinator at the Feminist Task Force's United Nations Office. They organized logistics and special events for multinational delegations attending UN conferences and managed social media and marketing.

From 2011 to 2014, Andrea served as the International Programs Director at the Global Cultivation Program. They founded the organization and led agricultural experiential learning trips for college students in Africa, South America, and Central America. They were responsible for marketing, outreach, and trip planning.

Currently, Andrea is with the Vermont Foodbank, where they have held various roles since 2014. They started as the Gleaning and Community Outreach Coordinator and then became the Agriculture and Community Outreach Manager. Currently, they serve as the Director of Community Engagement.

Andrea Solazzo completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from Eckerd College between the years 2005 and 2009. In addition to their degree, they obtained several certifications. In 2019, Andrea graduated from the New England Leadership Institute at Food Solutions New England. The following year, in 2018, they completed a Non-Profit Management certification at Marlboro College. In 2017, they received the Emerging Young Leader - Vermont certification from Food Solutions New England. Andrea also completed a Yoga Teacher Training program at Yoga Vermont in 2016. In 2014, they became a certified Childbirth Educator through DONA International. Andrea's education history also includes a Certificate in Small Business Management from Mercy Connections, which they obtained in 2013.
