Elizabeth Heinlein has a strong background in software engineering and has worked for multiple companies. Starting in 2009, they worked as a Graduate Student Worker at Portland State University's Academic Research Computing department. Elizabeth then joined Jive Software in 2010, first as a Support Engineer, and later took on roles as an Associate Professional Services Engineer, Professional Services Engineer, and Senior Professional Services Engineer, where they worked directly with customers to develop and implement custom solutions using technologies such as Java, Postgres, and JavaScript. In 2017, they joined New Relic, Inc. as a Software Engineer, and later became a Senior Software Engineer. Here, they worked on a small, agile team focused on delivering on-premise software with a high emphasis on reliability and security. Elizabeth also gained expertise in Go through custom instrumentation of the Go standard library and other frameworks. In 2020, Elizabeth joined DealPoint.io as a Senior Software Engineer, where they utilized their skills in Java, Spring, Postgres, Redis, and AWS S3 to create a new microservices pipeline for processing large amounts of data. Currently, they are working at Verta as a Senior Software Engineer and Chief Emojiologist.

Elizabeth Heinlein obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages with a focus on Spanish and Mandarin from Lewis & Clark College from 2001 to 2005. Following that, they pursued further education at Portland State University, where they completed their Master of Science degree in Computer Science from 2008 to 2010.
