Sydney Applegate

Sydney Applegate is an experienced analytical development professional currently serving as a Senior Research Associate in Assay Automation at Vertex Pharmaceuticals since July 2023. Prior to this role, Sydney worked as a Scientist in Research & Development at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where responsibilities included developing and implementing assays, such as ddPCR and qPCR, to measure the characteristics of viral vector genomes in support of gene therapy testing. Previous experience also includes serving as a Research Assistant at UF Health Cancer Center, focusing on data collection for cancer studies, and as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Florida, where responsibilities involved teaching laboratory techniques in microbiology. Sydney holds both a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Cell Sciences from the University of Florida.
