Carlo Zambonelli

Carlo is the senior director, analytical chemistry at Verve. Prior to joining Verve, Carlo was at Beam Therapeutics where he established and built the analytical development team and the analytical sciences team and led the characterization of drug substances and drug products for in vivo (LNP, AAV) and ex vivo (CD34, CAR-T) programs, and the development of bioassays for preclinical studies. He began working in the biopharmaceutical industry in 2009 at Novartis Vaccines where he covered several roles including responsibility for the biochemical characterization of antigens in research, and leading the biophysics team in technical development, in the U.S. and in Italy. After returning to the U.S., he had a stint as a consultant for gene therapy startup and later he joined Wolfe Laboratories/Pace Analytical as an associate director. Carlo holds a Master of Science in biochemistry from Universita’ di Parma and a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from Universita’ di Milano, both in Italy, and received postdoctoral training in biochemistry and biophysics at Boston College and Harvard University.
