Kevin Knabe

Director of Research and Development at Vescent Photonics

Kevin Knabe has a long and diverse work experience. Kevin began their career in 2004 as a Graduate Student at Kansas State University, where they worked on an optical reference project. In 2008, they were a Visiting Researcher at the University of Bath, where they worked on a portable, fiber-based optical frequency reference. In 2010, they were a Postdoc at NIST, where they worked on precision metrology and spectroscopy experiments in the mid-infrared optical spectrum. In 2012, they were a Senior Physics Engineer II at Raytheon. In 2014, they were a Staff Physicist III at Stable Laser Systems. In 2018, they were a Staff Scientist at Vescent Photonics, Inc. and a Director of Research and Development at Vescent Photonics, LLC. In this role, they managed the Research and Development group and provided assistance related to Atomic, Molecular, or Optical physics experiments. Kevin also lectured Physics 200 at the Colorado School of Mines and was the lead instructor in a studio lab section.

Kevin Knabe obtained a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in 2003, followed by a PhD in Physics from the same university in 2010.
